Welcome to another of our ‘close-up’ series of Irish golf links courses that make up the 6 beautiful masterpieces of our Golf Tour Ireland Special Offer 2015. Previously we have looked at Robert Trent Jones Senior’s last crafted wonder work of Adare, we have looked at County Clare’s Trump International Resort at Doonbeg, and we have also looked at Tralee. For a course to get on Mike Ryan’s ‘A list’, it really does have to have more than a little X factor – it has to be world class, completely capture your imagination, and ultimately….what can I say, blow your mind.

One of the things that makes an Irish golf trip is that you don’t just play the course, you soak up its environs and enjoy the hospitality, the scenery and the people that make it a golf ‘plus’experience. I could talk all day about Adare as a visitor experience and never even get to its lush parkland championship course of distinction but to achieve the more of the latter we have to do a little of the former!

Golf Tours Ireland, Focus on Tralee

Welcome to our November blog where this time we are continuing with our focus on golf courses that feature in our 2015 Golf Tours Special Offer. But to be honest, I could write or talk about Tralee Golf Club and the Kingdom of Kerry forever and a day. Let me start by painting the geographical picture. Just outside the Kingdom town of Tralee is its own golf club nestled in a dramatically scenic peninsula. One where Atlantic views of cliffs and castles and sand are the norm, not the exception. This is where the grass, green with its golden hue is as lush and intense as the moody Atlantic wind that graces it with its raw physicality. Perhaps these are the ingredients that inspired what is surely the jewel in Arnold Palmer’s golf links design legacy.
