Ireland Golf Vacations 2012? Editors Choice

Ireland Golf Vacations 2012? Editors Choice for April, Oldhead

If you want to do a golf vacation Ireland package with a difference that your friends will thank you for ever for, Executive Tours Ireland is THE place to come.  You can play the wild and challenging courses and taste the golf culture that formed Major Winning Champion Padraig Harrington and World #1 Rory McIlroy.

Executive Tours Ireland is a leading Irish Luxury and Golf Tour Operator, with more than ten years experience.  We are based in Limerick, right in the middle of the West of Ireland’s rugged Links Golf action.  Our service to you is built around being your local guide even before you get on the airplane.  Mike Ryan and his team will work with you to customize what will be a trip of a lifetime with so much fun and surprises, that nobody will want to have missed out on!

Needless to say we can secure on your behalf tee times for your group at some of the world’s finest and most renowned links and parkland golf courses that have played host to the Irish Open, Ryder Cup, European Open and more.  As you pass the days playing and discovering Arnold Palmer’s jewel, Greg Normans masterpiece, and Tom Watsons ‘true test of golf’ (to see which is which, click here!) you’ll be chauffeur driven from accommodation to golf course in a luxury Mercedes from our Chauffeurs Ireland fleet.  We have a comprehensive all-Mercedes private driver fleet including sedans and custom kitted mini vans and buses specifically designed by us for the golf enthusiast’s needs.  You can stay in 4 and/or 5 star luxury Irish Castles and Hotels such as the infamous Adare Manor, or the luxurious Dromoland Castle to name but two.  By night, you can explore Irish towns and villages like you’ve seen on the postcards.  Soak up the atmosphere in fabled places like Adare or Kenmare, where you can sample traditional Irish dining in award winning restaurants, or unwind in a bar with the locals to the sound of traditional Irish music and some good old Irish stew and pub-grub.  Does Guinness taste best in Ireland?  You really have to find this out for yourself!

To truly mark your visit to the Emerald Isle, Mike Ryan’s tip is to make it your business to play Old Head Kinsale.  Not only is this a dramatic, interesting and challenging Irish Links course, it really is quite unique to the world with it’s almost island like setting in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Cork.  When World Formula 1 motor racing Champion Nigel Mansell started racing Indy Cars, he asked Carl Haas for some starting advice, to which Haas replied, ‘Don’t turn right’! Well same applies on Hole 7 ‘Legal Eagle’, a testy par 3 at Oldhead, only difference, don’t go left either! To avoid deep rough on one side and deep drink on the other, best keep to the straight and narrow.  They are all gem golf holes but Hole 4, ‘The Razor’s Edge’ doesn’t earn its reputation for nothing friends!  If you do flirt with danger on the left, at least you can enjoy the stunning cliff views as you search.  Otherwise use the right side of the fairway to your advantage, and enjoy vistas of the lighthouse behind the green as you take a mid-iron approach shot. This course is just breathtaking from the first tee to the last green, and to my mind belongs in any golf tour Ireland has to offer.  Why not make it part of your Ireland Golf Vacation?
