A luxury golf vacation in Ireland must include the recently renovated Adare Manor in co. Limerick. It reopened its doors in November 2017 and within a short time was named Best Hotel in the World in 2018. The superior manor beat luxury hotels in the UK, France, Mauritius and Morocco for the title. Whether you choose a Classic room or a Presidential Suite, one thing is for certain you will be treated as a VIP guest throughout. There are on-site bars, restaurants, spa and beauty, cinema and of course their famous golf course.
Adare golf course
The Adare golf course is part of the luxurious Adare Manor grounds. It was chosen to host the Ryder Cup 2027, this is no surprise as it is the number one Golf Course in Ireland. World-renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio assisted with the new improvements during it’s massive renovations. It re-opened again in 2017 following the multi-million euro investment by owner, JP McManus. The famous JP McManus Pro Am is scheduled to go ahead in 2022, if you include this as part of your vacation you will have an Irish golf trip of a lifetime!
In the village of Adare you can take a leisurely walk through the thatched roof lined streets and visit craft shops, millners, boutiques, cafes and award-winning restaurants. Adare is steeped in history and its old Abbey ruins and ancient structures are truly picturesque. There are some fine select bars here too where traditional Irish pub grub is available and the locals will happily trade tales and jokes under the din of Irish music, all of which adds up a bit of ‘craic’! The gorgeous little village just comes to life during the Pro-Am and is definitely worth seeing.
Trump International Golf Links and Hotel Doonbeg
Opened in 2002, it was considered an ideal location for the Golf links. Doonbeg Golf Club was purchased by Donald Trump in 2014 for an estimated €15 million. Trump’s aim was to turn Doonbeg into a “truly iconic” golfing resort. The Golf Course is a 72 par course that plays 9 in and 9 out. The speed and variation of wind in this open play can be the challenge that awaits here. This is definitely a course in which all clubs will be used! The talking point of this course is the 14th and a wedge is the only real choice here on this lovely par 3, if lucky with the wind direction it can be a shot of a lifetime to get to the green in one.
Staying at the 5 star hotel (formerly the Lodge at Doonbeg) you have the choice of a range of divine rooms and suites. From the Ocean view suites, Courtyard suite, Courtyard room and Classic Links room, whether it’s an ocean view you’re after or luxury, each room is private and perfect for a golf vacation, honeymoon or family vacation in Ireland. At this resort they’ve brought extravagance to a new level. The Hotel offers two different dining experience: Trumps Bar and Restaurant and the Ocean View Restaurant. Diners are truly spoilt for choice from the cutting edge cuisine offered at both restaurants. The Bar and Restaurant offers hearty meals with traditional Irish cuisine and can all be washed down with a pint of the Guinness!
The White Horse Spa is an elegant and relaxing environment which offers a range of luxury treatments including massages, body treatments, facials and hair and nail services. Guests can also avail of the steam area and sauna and whirlpools with thermal mineral salts to ease sore muscles after a long day on the course and leave refreshed and rejuvenated for the next day of your Golf Trip in Ireland.
Cliffs of Moher
Nearby in Co. Clare are The Cliffs of Moher, they feature in many of our tours of Ireland and are considered as the ‘8th wonder of the world’ to many. The gigantic Cliffs of Moher are 702 feet tall and stretch over 8 kilometers along the Atlantic coast. There is a safe path that leads the way and on a fine day you can take in the breath-taking views of scenery near and far. It is the perfect view of the Southwest of Ireland. From the Cliffs one can see the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, as well as The Twelve Pins, the Maum Turk Mountains in Connemara and Loop Head to the South. The Cliffs of Moher take their name from a ruined promontory fort “Mothar” which was demolished during the Napoleonic wars to make room for a signal tower. On site there is also a visitor centre with a cafe and shop, the centre hosts interesting artefacts and information on local history.
