The Gallarus Oratory is thought to have possibly housed foreigners and served as a type of ancient ‘bed and breakfast’. The Irish name of ‘Gall Aras’ is believed to mean ‘The house or shelter for foreigners’. Establishing that all tourists are indeed welcome to the Peninsula of Dingle during their trip to Ireland!
